As promised, here are our poor little pepper plants. Now you can see why Terry picked the peppers. If we would have had a storm with high winds, the pepper plants would have broken down under the weight of the peppers. We have six pepper plants. If you click on the photo you will be able to enlarge it.
In the bed on the left rear of the photo is one of our tomato plants we grew from seed. Those plants are much smaller than the ones we bought.
Another view of the rhubarb plants we grew from seed. They are growing nicely. Guess we will have to begin thinking of names for them.
The Zucchini growing in the deeper bed where we usually grow sweet potatoes. The zucchini are growing rapidly and are covering the four foot square bed.
This is the bed where we planted the first green beans of 2023. The row on the right started as a Park Seed Company variety called Endeavour Bush Beans. They never germinated. They were replaced with Burpee Bush Beans. They germinated nicely but are not a true bush bean. They may be listed as a bush bean but they have longer stems than we are used to seeing. They look as if they would love to be a pole bean but can't quite figure out how.
On the left side of this bed we planted our stand by Park Seed variety called Cabot. We have planted this variety for the past few years but something nibbled on them this year. A few plants are trying to grow but many didn't make it.
This eight foot bed is next to the one holding the green beans. This Watermelon is a smallish, round fruit much like last year but a different variety. Last year we grew a small variety called "Mini Love". The melons were delicious but we decided to try something different. This bed has a variety called "Mambo" which are much like the "Mini Love" except for a lighter rind.
