Green Beans and Peppers

What a surprise! Terry picked enough green beans this morning for a meal. After the garden's late start, we are surprised to be picking the first beans at about the normal time.  The pepper plants are only about fourteen inches tall and are already producing peppers.  The peppers are usually larger when we pick them but we are afraid the plant stems will break if we wait until the peppers are full size. We seldom pick peppers this early in the season so i guess the garden is trying very hard to feed us for the winter.

Our 2022 garden got a late start because of the strange weeds we had to deal with before we could do any planting. 2022 was also a rather hot, humid and dry season and we harvested fewer vegetables.  The 2021 garden season  gave us less rainfall than normal but was still productive, thanks to the rain barrels. The 2020 gardening season was also dryer than normal but still very successful.  2019 was an excellent year for our garden.  We had the usual weather challenges but the crops all produced above expectations. If we are able to plant a garden in 2024, maybe the cycle will once again produce bumper crops.
