After a very dry spell and then almost drowning with rain, summer is over. The garden is empty except for the green peppers and they will continue to produce until frost.
The Marigold bed is still presenting a brightly colored and fragrant spot in the yard but the tall Marigolds are beginning to fade. Soon it will be time to collect seeds for next year's flower bed. We have already collected seeds from the Butterfly Weed. The Goldfinches have been feeding on the dried seeds of the Purple Cone Flowers. It's exciting to watch nature in action. It's sad to think that so many people today fail to see the beauty in nature.
