After receiving so little rain from mid July through the end of August - It RAINED. We received a few sprinkles around the beginning of September but on Labor Day afternoon the rain arrived. Most of the rain fell softly over a long period of time which helped the parched earth. By Wednesday evening we had had three and a quarter inches of that wet stuff.
The last crops in our garden are the green beans and peppers. Terry picked almost a half bucket of beans this morning and I snapped them before remembering to take a photo. These are ready to be washed, blanched and frozen in vacuum packs for meals of ham and green beans. The peppers were too small to pick but one limb had broken so now these will be diced and frozen for use in recipes for this winter.
