Slow Progress

This is the first year that we have had any problems with weeds. These invasive weeds are everywhere.  I tried to look it up online and it resembles Chickweed but people buy Chickweed seeds for their Herb gardens. It's strange but these weeds act just like Chickweed.  Whatever it is, it needs to disappear.
The above photo is a flower bed where we also hang our bird feeders. There is a tree stump in the center of the bed that has been covered with these nasty weeds.

This photo shows one of our raised garden beds filled with weeds. You can see in the background that a few of the beds have less weeds.  Most of the beds looked like the large one in the photo.  We mulched the area around the garden beds and these invasive monstrosities have tried to cover the mulch too. We don't  use hazardous sprays in order not to hurt pollinators but early this spring we did use Round-Up to spray the mulch. We will go back to hand weeding for the rest of the year.  If any weeds get ahead of us we will be using vinegar and Dawn to keep the mulch clear of weeds.
Next posting will show our progress towards achieving a flourishing vegetable garden.
