Remember in July when I took this photo of the three tomato plants that sprouted beside the raised bed next to the garage? Here they are at the end of July, happily growing in their new home.
Here they are today. What a big difference rain and fertilizer will make. There are a lot of tomatoes on the vines and they are now beginning to ripen. We knew the center plant was one of the red cherry tomato plants called "Husky" but weren't sure what kind of cherry tomato the others would produce. They are both the small pear shaped yellow tomato plants that we grew for my mother. She liked them because they had less acid than red tomatoes.
A close-up to show the cute little pear shaped tomatoes beginning to ripen. The unusual part of this story is that we hadn't grown this particular type of plant since 2014. My mother passed away in 2013 and we decided to continue to plant one of these tomato plants in memory of her since she liked them. The plant died halfway through the season so we said that it knew that mom had passed. We hadn't bought any of these plants in the last three years but this year two plants came up from seeds that have been in the ground for three years
