More garden - less grass to mow

We added a new bed this year but for some reason I can't find the photo.  We did grow carrots and onions together and they did well.  This photo was taken in July and you can see how well the sweet potatoes are growing. (lower left corner). The sweet potato plants were started from one of last year's potatoes. We planted green peppers in pots sitting next to the asparagus bed but they didn't do as well as they did in the flower bed along the sun room.

Here we are in October of 2015 with Terry  standing in front of our new addition for the 2016 garden.  Notice the potato fork? Our own American Gothic.  We don't own a pitch fork so we had to improvise.  We put up the tent greenhouse in the middle of the yard to see what it would look like and to see how much space it would require. We didn't want a greenhouse quite this large but didn't want one where Terry couldn't stand up.  This one is about eight foot square.

We had some problems with deer this past summer.  They seemed to enjoy taste testing our crops.  Just before winter, Terry put in metal stakes and early in the spring he will add the wire for an electric fence.   This photo shows our 30 plus inches of snow we received in January 2016.  You can see the fence stakes but the garden is buried under a blanket of snow.  Time to look through the seed catalogs and prepare for the next season.
